Bohemian waxwing
Latin: Bombycilla garrulus
Order: Passeriformes
Family: Bombycillidae
Bohemian waxwing breeds in coniferous and mixed forests in the northern regions of Europe, Asia, and North America. In the winter, they may migrate south in search of food, often appearing in city parks and gardens. And this is when they can be observed in Ukraine and other parts of Eastern and Central Europe.
Waxwings are kept in large flocks. They primarily feed on berries during the winter, as those of rowan, lingonberries, viburnum, mistletoe. In summer, feed on insects caught in flight.
