It is one of the most widespread birds in Europe, Asia, and North Africa, and has been introduced to Australia and New Zealand.
These birds are adaptable and can be found in various habitats, including woodlands, rural areas, urban parks and gardens. They are often be seen looking for food in the lawns.
Urban blackbirds are more likely to overwinter in cooler climes than rural or forest-dwelling birds, that migrate in warm regions in autumn.
In spring and summer, they feed on insects, snails, and especially favor earthworms. In late summer and autumn, they eat berries.
