It is native to Asia and parts of Europe. It has been introduced globally primarily for hunting.
The birds are found in woodland, farmland, scrub, and wetlands. In its natural habitat, the common pheasant lives in grassland near water with small copses of trees.
Pheasants were introduced to Ukraine primarily for the purpose of creating new hunting grounds and enriching the country’s fauna.
Its main food consists of seeds, small fruits, berries, and shoots. It also eats grains, insects, mollusks, and worms.
