Great Cormorants have a wide distribution globally, and they can be found in various regions across Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and parts of North America. They are commonly seen in the sea coasts, oceans, large rivers and lakes.
In Ukraine, they nest on almost throughout the entire territory. During migrations, occur on most of the mainland. Winter near the sea coast, in the lower reaches of the Dnieper, Danube and Dniester.
They mainly feed on fish caught through diving, with the bird diving to depths of about 5 meters. Having finished hunting, the bird thoroughly dries its wings, otherwise it will not be able to fly away.
